About IMAGINE PEACE TOWER
IMAGINE PEACE TOWER is a Tower of Light which emanates wisdom, healing and joy.
It communicates awareness to the whole world that peace & love is what connects all lives on Earth.
Send your wishes to IMAGINE PEACE TOWER by Twitter, email or post.

IMAGINE PEACE TOWER is an outdoor work of art conceived by Yoko Ono in
memory of John Lennon. It is situated on Viðey Island in Reykjavík, Iceland. [map]
The artwork was dedicated to John by Yoko at its unveiling on October 9th 2007,
John Lennon’s 67th birthday.

IMAGINE PEACE TOWER symbolizes Lennon’s and Ono’s continuing
campaign for world peace - which began in the sixties, was sealed by
their marriage in 1969 and will continue forever.
The words IMAGINE PEACE are inscribed on the Well in 24 different languages.
IMAGINE PEACE TOWER is composed of a tall shimmering tower of light that
appears every year and is visible from October 9th (John’s birthday) until
December 8th (the anniversary of his death).

In addition, the Tower will illuminate from Winter Solstice (December 21st – 28th),
on New Year’s Eve (December 31st) and the first week of spring (March 21st -28th).
It is lit from 2 hours after sunset until midnight, and until dawn on New Year’s Day.
In tribute to Yoko, the City of Reykjavik lights IMAGINE PEACE TOWER
on her birthday February 18th from 7pm until 9am the following day.

One of the mesmerising features of the IMAGINE PEACE TOWER is that
the strength, intensity and brilliance of its light continually changes
with the prevailing weather and atmospheric conditions unique to Iceland
- creating a clear pillar of light on a cloudless night,
beams irridescing with rainbow refractions in rain or snowfall,
and brilliantly reflecting off and through any moving layers of cloud.

John was, and always will be, a true inspiration. He was a great musician and I admire him for both is music and his campaign for peace. Yoko has done a fantastic job keeping her and Johns dream alive all these years. John will never be forgotten and neither will his dream of peace. Thank you John and Yoko for inspiring us.
Happy Birthday John, we miss you so much.
Was in kindergarten when the Beatles made their debut on the Ed Sullivan show. I can remember it like it was yesterday, I was mesmerized. Save for the birth of my children, I don’t know if anything has made such an impact in my life. We all miss you John, but treasure the memories you have left us with. Happy 70th.
Imagine, peace and tolerance for the world. What a wonderful world it would be. Happy birthday, John. The world misses you. Love always….
John one of the most influential people in my life and he died 12 years before I was born. This just shows that his spirit lives all around us. And if we all just coexisted the world will have peace… he put it pure and simple
Empecé a escuchar a Los Beatles cuando tenía 15 años, a partir de ese momento no me canso de escucharlos.
Me hubiera gustado que John estuviera con nosotros en estos momentos. Me encanta su música.

John was the first person that wasn’t a family member that I can honestly say I loved. I was seven years old when I first saw the Beatles – 3 months before their appearance on Ed Sullivan. That was it. Right then. John was the first naked man I ever saw- from the cover of “Two Virgins.” All these years later, there’s not a day that I don’t think of him. He was the first non-family member to shape and influence my life and, to this day, his influence, along with George Harrison’s, made me the persona I am.
I wish everyone love, peace, tolerance, respect and civility.
Blessings and light,
Nancy

Thank you John. God bless you Yoko. Peace and Love 4ever.
I have been a Beatle fan since they came to our country and I was in Junior High School. I have loved them for my whole life, it seems. The world had a huge loss when John died. Thank you Yoko for keeping him alive and in our constant memory. Maybe in our lifetime we will see some of what you guys were dreaming about…. Peace and love forever!
I admire John Lennon so much. His music is a work of genius. John Lennon is the example of peace. He actually kinda gave his life for peace for the world. He is the peace maker. If he were alive today, the world would be a better place.
I am one o/t many who grew up w/t Beatles and John’s ‘Imagine’ is my all time, favorite song. It’s the LYRICS which are so moving. Actually, with the knowledge, resources, science & technology (used intelligently f/t betterment of mankind) the lyrics to John’s ‘Imagine’ CAN BECOME a reality. Please check out http://www.thezeitgeistmovement.com and http://www.thevenusproject.com to join us in manifesting this world John speaks about. Please read the FAQ’s, listen/watch the many videos and join hands with us to move beyond politics, poverty and war. With all my heart (especially since I have grandkids now) I have faith, hope & trust that the current generation can FINALLY let go of the ‘established’ societies and move into an ‘emergent civilization’ where ALL people can grow to their highest potential. Where all nations/inhabitants become ONE family. WE CAN EVOLVE TO BEING REALLY FREE. A New Beginning is the start of a beginning’s end.
Love, Peace & Blessings to all of you – Mamma D
Dear Yoko,
John’s impact on my life has come full circle back to you in the most startling way I could ever “imagine”. I was lucky enough to be alive AND a teenager when the Beatles arrived, falling in love with the music, especially, John’s song “Imagine”. More than twenty years ago, I gave my young son a copy of the children’s book
version of Johns’ “Imagine” lyrics, to inspire him to imagine his dreams. My son has since become an extremely gifted musician, how could I ever “Imagine” that
I would turn on the BBC 6 Mix series to hear you (Yoko Ono!) featuring music of the artists who inspired Your record, and hear you playing the music of MY son’s band! Just IMAGINE that!! Thank you John and Thank you Yoko, for the wonderful job you are doing in preserving John’s incredible legacy…..Peace and light to all!
John and a volcano are my earliest memories…I was the youngest child by 11 & 14 years. His name was known to me like a friend growing up. My family was in shock at the news of his death…I was 10 by then. When my own family fell apart that same year, I clung to his music, and his eyes in a poster looking straight thru me. Two years later, after finding my mother dead, John’s face, voice, and message was a life preserver for me in an ocean of chaos. He was always there for me, and his work, and Yoko’s, kept me inspired and on a healthy path of spirituality. During a particularly difficult bump in the road for me (my dark night of the soul) I walked into a little diner, and there was a photo of John in his I (heart) NY t-shirt, with that look on his face. I just laughed. That was it. I got it. Shortly after that, on tv I caught Yoko in a documentary about her life and work and at one point, when asked about him, she spoke of John as still a tree above her, providing shelter and shade for her, I just sobbed. It is an exquisite way to think of him, as is the IP Tower. I am teaching my 4 1/2 yr old daughter about it, and the song “Imagine,” which she loves. Her earliest memories of music certainly will be of John Lennon, as well. She likes to watch Yoko talk about him, and she says, “I love you too!” at the end of the birthday message. Our hearts flow with love and peace, and we thank everyone for this great joy in peace. When we choose peace in each moment in our lives…each moment…the world becomes more like us. Live your life in one-hour segments if that is what it takes to be conscious of yourself, but I promise you, the changes you will experience will be miraculous! Love, Deirdre
Yoko,
Thank You for keeping John’s memory alive and continuing to perpetuate his dream for world peace. I will forever remember with great sadness that day he was taken from us all. My heart was wounded again seven years later when my own brother left us prematurely at the age of 36. His name was also John Lennon.
The Imagine Peace Tower is so awesome. I hope someday I might be lucky enough to see it in person.
Peace,
Michael
This is beautiful. I miss John, though I did not know him personally, he bared his soul for the world allowing us to experience him.
Yoko thank you for your love and for loving John.
Love,
Antonia
Kindly advice how we can get in touch with Yoki directly in connection with the Peacetower.
John left not only the music but the message of peace and how to treasure and nurture it for keeps. An ever green message in desparate need to understand and make come true together with all of us.
Thank you John & Yoko for sharing your love and bringing LOVE —-> PEACE to our consciousness forever.
For the last month or so I have been seeing Venus “shining” bright in the pre dawn eastern sky. Venus, second planet from the Sun, was named after the goddess of love, and is also known as “The morning star”, sometimes “The evening star”. On December 8th, 2010, the 30th anniversary of John’s senseless death, after watching the TV show about his and Yoko’s life in NYC, I put two and two together and have also given this brilliant glowing celestial orb the name, “Imagine” (the torch for Peace and Love). John in the documentary spoke of wanting to pass the “torch” to others to carry on the cause. One could think “The Imagine Peace Tower”, lit several times a year, helps to keep “Imagine” (the torch for Peace and Love) (heavenly set diamond in the sky)(also known as Venus) glowing for the cause. At one time or another during the year I believe everyone on Earth can see Venus , now “Imagine”. I gain nothing from this idea. I came up with it to honor the peace and love seekers and teachers like John Lennon trying to save our world. ( I corrected one spelling mistake from my first submission)
I am touched by your work, your words, your essence and your soul.
dear john and yoko in memory of the beginning oct.9 and the end dec.8. i do remember and your work is where the peace of that memory is at. december 8 1980 is a society by which music appreciation learnt to teach in the name of love that we who learn to love this memory have nothing against john ono lennon. dec.8 1980 is a social compact that does agree that you and i (a concept) love john and him rememered. october 9 1940 and him being loved is all you need at 1975 is nature at who is the science of spirit that reasons to be; if you and i love here, do we love we ourselves? now is whose reality is where?
As a writer, artist, and simple being, I cannot conceive of end. I’ve tried from many different angles, I can conceive of transformation, changes, but I cannot conceive of end. We do all shine on.
Happy Birthday John!

the first time my heart really broke was when john lennon was murdered.
